About

About me

I am Howie, based in Singapore. I have spent most of my working life on the business and operations side of things.

At university I studied materials engineering. I learnt some C along the way and really enjoyed it. I took a module on how computers work and thought about doing a minor in computing, but I got lazy and didn't take the rest of the modules. Around the time I graduated, I started a business with two partners and ran it for ten years. Coding dropped off from there.

AI coding tools got me building again. I don't write the code myself. I work out what I want, describe it, try what comes back and keep going until it works. Deciding what to build, and when it's good enough to put out, is the part I do. Right now the tools are mostly Codex and Claude Code. I have tried Gemini for code too, and I switch to whatever works.

This site is where I keep track of what I build, what I learn and whatever else I get curious about. Most of it is unfinished, and I write about it anyway. The longer version of how I got here is in why I started this site.

I am a hobbyist and still learning. If you are building something too, want to swap ideas or think we could make something together, I would like to hear from you. The contact page goes straight to my inbox.
